What Is CBD Oil?

CBD or cannabidiol oil is oil made from the flowers, leaves, stems and stalk of the cannabis plant. It contains, at most, trace elements of THC – the psychoactive element in cannabis – and does not create a “high”. CBD however, is one of the many active cannabinoids found in both cannabis and hemp. Although CBD acts on different pathways in the body than THC, it appears to have many of the same positive effects when used as medicine. It also seems to have a mitigating effect on both the high caused by THC, as well as paranoia suffered by some users.

How can CBD oil be used?

CBD oil is increasingly used as medicine for a multitude of conditions – ranging from nausea and pain to more serious conditions. It is also used to treat skin conditions, such as acne. Taken as a health supplement, it can also lower blood sugar and has strong antioxidant properties.

CBD oil vs hemp oil

There is a great deal of confusion between hemp and CBD oil. Both contain CBD, although hemp oil contains far less of this cannabinoid (usually less than 25 parts per million) and is made from hemp produced usually for industrial use. CBD oils contain at least 15% CBD (or about 150,000ppm).

Because the industry is not regulated and there is still little research on the impact of CBD on the human body for specific conditions, it is very hard to find accurate serving or dosing suggestions. We recommend, depending on gender, body weight, age, condition and individual metabolism, between 20-30mg per day.

2.5% CBD oil dosing: 1-3 drops / 1-3x a day / 1-3 times per day
4% CBD oil dosing: 1-3 drops / 1-3x a day / 1-3 times per day
10% CBD oil dosing: 1-3 drops / 1-3x a day / 1-3 times per day
